Acne’s SS12 Capsule Collection

These images arrived in my inbox a while ago, but then I kind of forgot about them until I passed the Acne shop on Dover Street yesterday and spotted the new SS12 capsule collection in the window.

The capsule collection consists of 20 pieces – all white, all in Acne’s trademark minimalist style, ranging from sharply tailored shirts to denim to silk separates to jersey T-shirts. I want it all – especially the denim dress above – except for the minor detail that I really shouldn’t be allowed to wear white… I’m a spiller.

The SS12 capsule collection is in Acne stores and online now.

The Net-a-Porter SS12 Bag Guide is here!

net-a-porter bag guideIn case you didn’t know this yet, Net-a-Porter isn’t just one of the best places to shop online anymore – it’s now also a home for great original content too. The online magazine just seems to get better and better, there’s Fashion Fix, a social media hub and there’s some wonderful video content too (you have to check out The Christian Louboutin Story!).

Now why bring this up now, you wonder? Well, Net-a-Porter has just released its seasonal Bag Guide for SS12 issue and created the best little video to go with it. It made me smile on this sunny Friday, so I thought I’d share it with you. Also… can I please have this girl’s wardrobe? Pretty please???

And because this sunny weather is distracting me so much I can’t seem to do anything but daydream about urgent summer purchases, I just made a little selection of my favourite SS12 bags on Net-a-Porter. Because I’m cool like that.

Lookbook Love: Lu Flux SS12 “A-Lu-Ha”

Say hello to young British designer Lu Flux! I fell in love with the quirky lookbook of her latest S12 collection, so I thought I’d share it with you. It’s a little over the top and colourful and bright and cheerful and everything you want from a summer collection and if you look beyond the cotton candy hair, you’ll find some wonderful wearable pieces that I definitely need in my wardrobe.

Lu looked for inspiration in Hawaii for her SS12 collection, with Tiki masks, grass skirts and plenty of flowers getting a British update. I love the raincoats for those inevitably wet summer days…

Lu Flux is a great young British label to keep an eye out for, the past collections have gone from strength to strength and I can’t wait to see more in the future! There’s more images of the collection on the website!

Ted Baker SS12 Team Day

Ted Bakes SS12 Show
Earlier this week I attended Ted Baker‘s Team Day with a few of my favourite fellow bloggers. As the name suggests, this was an event By Ted Baker, For Ted Baker. Along with the team, we were invited to celebrate the new SS12 collection witha a little fashion show, the footage of which will be screened in all stores throughout the season.

Cute Ted Baker fleece blankets kept us warm in the chilly Bloomsbury Dairy venue, as the girls with Gaga-esque hair, brightly coloured trousers and wearing t-shirts spelling “TED ROCKS” came out to a round of applause. They were followed by a bunch of quirky male models: a ginger boy, plenty of tattoos, moustaches, grey hair,… I thought the unconventional casting worked perfectly with the collection, which ranged from casual beachwear to formal suits. “Real” men wearing real clothes.

The biggest surprise was the women’s collection – I saw tons of dresses I wouldn’t mind in my wardrobe! There was lots of colour, florals as well as a few great black and white pieces, and again, the collection ranged from casual to business-appropriate clothing and ended with a finale of colourful maxi dresses, aimed at the wedding/prom season. As for accessories, I loved the iPad case with bow – almost like a clutch bag! – some lovely leather bags and a great pearl collar necklace. Some of the dresses in the show were part of the Ted Baker Langley Court collection – a small range of incredibly beautiful high end pieces (with matching price tag…).

As I said, I was really pleasantly surprised – I can’t say I’ve actually ever really noticed Ted Baker much before (being foreign, I think it’s just one of those British brands I never got to know), but the whole collection was a really pleasant surprise and has definitely converted me. It’s great to see the closeness of the team behind such a big brand, including the slightly secretive Ray Kelvin, aka Mr. Ted Baker, who gave a lovely little speech to his staff at the end of the show.

It’s times like this I wish more high street brands would have fashion shows. It’s a great way of discovering a collection, seeing it in action, seeing the clothes move and styled in a way the customers could perfectly do themselves. More of this, please?!

Mulberry SS12 Ad Campaign

For its new SS12 ad campaign, Mulberry went to the beach. Not somewhere exotic like Barbados or the Seychelles or Mauritius – nope: Brighton Pier. The sugary sweet images fit perfectly with the new collection, which was inspired by the Great British Summer. I love the fact that an iconic British brand like Mulberry is embracing its roots like this, it’s just such a colourful and cheerful campaign. The campaign was shot by Tim Walker, styled by Edward Enninful and models are Frida Gustavsson and Lindsey Wixson.

Now I just feel like ice cream.
