These images arrived in my inbox a while ago, but then I kind of forgot about them until I passed the Acne shop on Dover Street yesterday and spotted the new SS12 capsule collection in the window. The capsule collection consists of 20 pieces – all white, all in Acne’s trademark minimalist style, ranging from sharply tailored shirts to denim to silk separates to jersey T-shirts. I want it all – especially the denim dress above – except for the […]

In case you didn’t know this yet, Net-a-Porter isn’t just one of the best places to shop online anymore – it’s now also a home for great original content too. The online magazine just seems to get better and better, there’s Fashion Fix, a social media hub and there’s some wonderful video content too (you have to check out The Christian Louboutin Story!). Now why bring this up now, you wonder? Well, Net-a-Porter has just released its seasonal Bag Guide […]
Say hello to young British designer Lu Flux! I fell in love with the quirky lookbook of her latest S12 collection, so I thought I’d share it with you. It’s a little over the top and colourful and bright and cheerful and everything you want from a summer collection and if you look beyond the cotton candy hair, you’ll find some wonderful wearable pieces that I definitely need in my wardrobe. Lu looked for inspiration in Hawaii for her SS12 […]
Earlier this week I attended Ted Baker‘s Team Day with a few of my favourite fellow bloggers. As the name suggests, this was an event By Ted Baker, For Ted Baker. Along with the team, we were invited to celebrate the new SS12 collection witha a little fashion show, the footage of which will be screened in all stores throughout the season. Cute Ted Baker fleece blankets kept us warm in the chilly Bloomsbury Dairy venue, as the girls with […]
For its new SS12 ad campaign, Mulberry went to the beach. Not somewhere exotic like Barbados or the Seychelles or Mauritius – nope: Brighton Pier. The sugary sweet images fit perfectly with the new collection, which was inspired by the Great British Summer. I love the fact that an iconic British brand like Mulberry is embracing its roots like this, it’s just such a colourful and cheerful campaign. The campaign was shot by Tim Walker, styled by Edward Enninful and […]
It’s been a manic few weeks of press days, where PR’s open their doors to the press and introduce the new collections – SS12 in this case. Some of these brands I’ve already seen on the catwalk, but are great to rediscover up close and personal. I couldn’t possibly report on all the press days I’ve been to individually (I took hundreds and hundreds of snaps), so here are some highlights of some I’ve been to already.Corrie Nielsen taking a […]
Last night I fell truly deeply, madly in love. Again. This time, it’s with Sophie Hulme, a young London designer with lots of buzz around her, and at the Cube SS12 Press Day last night, I discovered why. Her simple pieces are defined by an emphasis on detail and quality. She takes inspiration from menswear tailoring to create some truly classic and timeless investment pieces to be worn for years to come, without ever being “last season”. Hulme’s collections focus […]
There are few things as fun during London Fashion Week as the Mulberry show (and afterparty). This season the label got its inspiration from the Great British Summers at the coast. Outside we were treated to ice cream from an old-fashioned van and home made lemonade, whilst inside the rooms in the Claridges Ballroom were transformed into a jungle of inflated animal balloons. The catwalk resembled a fairground ride and the models had coloured streaks in their hairs, reminiscent of […]
German designer Markus Lupfer turned the trendy St. Martin’s lane hotel into a jungle filled with wild creatures for his SS12 presentation. The models were wearing very lifelike masks, transforming them into a monkey, a wolf, an elephant and a zebra, whilst sporting the German designer’s nature-inspired collection. They interacted with the public, each playing a little character: the wolf was a little naughty, the monkey pretty happy, the elephant a bit timid in the back and the zebra was […]
There’s one thing you can always be certain of when you go to a Bora Aksu show: they’re very photogenic. For his SS12 show the catwalk consisted of thousands of black and orange leaves, making a dramatic statement. The show started with a finale of around 10 models, angelically dressed in all-white, with flower headpieces. The look was typical Bora Aksu: a patchwork of materials and techniques, this season with a slight Edwardian inspiration.
As the exodus to Milan Fashion Week had already started, the last day at London Fashion Week seemed pretty quiet and calm. Those who left prematurely will probably be kicking themselves now, as the Meadham Kirchhoff show will probably go down history books as the funnest, craziest show ever. With Anna Wintour sat in the front row in front of me,(apologies, all of my pictures feature her bob, but there was no other way to snap the catwalk), we were treated to a real spectacle which had everyone in stitches – I swear I even saw a faint whiff of a smile on Anna’s face.
If Michael Van Der Ham‘s individual, handmade collage-style invites gave a slight hint about what was in store for the young Dutchman’s SS12 collection. Straying slightly from his trademark patchwork style last season (opting for head-to-toe velvet instead), this would be a return to what he does best: mix the most eclectic prints, colours, materials and silhouettes together to create one of the most talked-about collections of London Fashion Week.
