The age of the IT-bag may be over, but every so often a new design comes along which makes me go a little crazy… today,Alexander McQueen’s Heroine Chain Satchel is doing just that. Coming off the success of last season’s larger Heroine bag, the Satchel is a smaller, more elegant version with a shoulder strap. As I’m currently obsessed with all things nude, so the above one is my favourite – although the other colours aren’t too shabby either. This one’s going on the wishlist!
In case you didn’t know this yet, Net-a-Porter isn’t just one of the best places to shop online anymore – it’s now also a home for great original content too. The online magazine just seems to get better and better, there’s Fashion Fix, a social media hub and there’s some wonderful video content too (you have to check out The Christian Louboutin Story!).
Now why bring this up now, you wonder? Well, Net-a-Porter has just released its seasonal Bag Guide for SS12 issue and created the best little video to go with it. It made me smile on this sunny Friday, so I thought I’d share it with you. Also… can I please have this girl’s wardrobe? Pretty please???
And because this sunny weather is distracting me so much I can’t seem to do anything but daydream about urgent summer purchases, I just made a little selection of my favourite SS12 bags on Net-a-Porter. Because I’m cool like that.
This hot off the press: Mulberry has announced it is launching a new bag named after Lana Del Rey!
This is not a bad feat for a girl who’s been on the global radar for less than a year, so this bag will cement her status as a true music and fashion darling. The Del Rey bag is a classic, timeless Mulberry bag with a bit of a retro feel, not unlike Lana’s classic Hollywood style. Of her bag, Lana said: “I love the design, a perfect mix between old school Hollywood and contemporary style. It’s an honour that such a classic and prestigious brand would name a bag after me.”.
The Del Ray launches as part of the AW12 collection, and will come in Deer Brown Grainy Print, Black Forest Soft Matte, Black Soft Spongy and Petrol Veg Tanned Lambskin leathers as well as two Catwalk Collection editions in new luxe leathers Gold Large Metallic Snake Print and Ink Blue Sparkle Croc Print.
Lana Del Rey aside (I’m still on the fence there), I quite like the classic look of the bag – but will it bring as successful for Mulberry as the Alexa was? Only time will tell…
I’m so excited to give you a little exclusive sneak peek of newly launched handbag label Jack French London. Although the brand only officially launched this week, there’s already quite a buzz around it after John Lewis snapped up the first collection and even the likes of Kate Moss and Sadie Frost requested one of the bags.
After consulting for lots of luxury brands including Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Liberty and Fortnum & Mason, designer Jack French decided to take all this experience to create a new range off luxurious bags, at accessible prices. The 12 styles come in soft leathers and impeccable detailing, and prices range between £125-£195, and each is named after a well-known street or area in London.
My favourite has to be the Fulham, a handy little bag, great for wearing cross-body, which works for both day and night. Despite its compact size, little details like a zip pocket for your valuables and mobile phone pocket are still there. The Jack French London website is live as of today, and you can also buy the bags online at John Lewis now, as well as in their Westfield Stratford branch, with all other JL stores following next year.
A great alternative for people who want something superior to the high street, but without the price tag!
