As I mentioned earlier this week, this lovely invite landed in my inbox. I’m a die-hard Chanel fan, so this made me pretty happy! I showed you the ads and Vanessa Paradis, well now I get to tell you about the bags!
At the Chanel showroom, there was a Coco Cocoon extravaganza. I was faced with my idea of heaven: yup, a mannequin (that would be me) in between a mountain of Chanel bags. Who would not die happy?
Opposed to what I said in my previous post, the bags land in stores TOMORROW!!! Not August… (Tomorrow is May 15th, FYI)

I didn’t get a proper picture of this, so I’m using the press pics, but mine (and everyone’s) favourite piece was the rucksack! Backpacks are back in fashion – the New Look goodie bag itself was an amazing backpack – so how amazing is this quilted Chanel one?

If I had any secret fantasies of Vanessa Paradis being there, then I was sadly wrong – a much bigger star stole the show. Fellow blogger The Very Simon G brought his tiny little Dachshund puppy Dhillon, who was the real star here. All this dog needs is a puffy, soft Cocoon bag to settle down in, I think… I hope his daddy sorts it out! Another special shoutout to the lovely Laura of So Far So Chic. This week has been a pretty amazing, it’s been great to finally meet some of my fellow bloggers!

Every dog’s dream (and mine…)

And in the goody bag? Well… a combination of my 2 favourite things: Coco and Coffee table books. I’m a happy bunny right now. My mom (who told me I shouldn’t mention her on here anymore, whoops) called me earlier and reminded me I did have my 25th birthday coming up, so perhaps…

This morning, the most wonderful invitation landed in my inbox with a virtual thud: did I want to come to the preview of the new Chanel Coco Cocoon range this Friday? Why, yes, yes I do, thank you very much. I’ve been a huge fan of Chanel’s cheaper, more casual range since it first launched last year – even despite Lily Allen being the face of the campaign. I loved it so much, I dragged my mom to the store, where she promptly bought one… for herself. I kicked, screamed, moaned and begged, but no Cocoon for Alex. But rest assured, the moment she takes her eye off the bag – which she still hasn’t, even after a year – that bag will be mine. Sorry Momma V, but it goes like this:

So the second range doesn’t actually hit stores until early August, but the campaign has already launched, this time featuring the gorgeous Vanessa Paradis. Growing up in Belgium, she was always the epitome of the cool, gorgeous French girl, so I think she is the perfect choice for Coco Cocoon. I was left a little dumbfounded when I asked around my friends in the UK yesterday and found a lot of them had never heard of her. She’s a singer, model and actress and also Missus Johnny Depp, mother of their two children. She’s ageless (but 38, really), stylish, uber-French and so, so classy. Karl Lagerfeld shot the campaign himself as per usual, and below you can find a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot.
On the dedicated Coco Cocoon website, there’s a bunch of images up as well, showing a few upscale additions to the range, like the Quilted Alligator or the Orylag and Lambskin quilted bowling bags alongside the cheaper nylon ones. As you enjoy, drool and ponder whether to sell your iPad to scrape together the pennies to pay for the bag by August, you can discover Vanessa’s sultry voice in the background. It’s a win-win. More info soon after I go see them for myself!

This morning I went to visit my little cousin, who broke her big toe pretty badly last week. She’s a marathon runner, an avid hockey player, she just loves any kind of sport – so this is pretty dramatic stuff. Having a sister who works at Chanel in Paris does help a little, of course. Her invite to the AW10 show last week was unfortunately left unused, so she sent her the new Chanel Temporary Tattoos to pimp her cast instead. (See my previous post about them here)
I’m sure fashionista’s around the world will despair that these $75 temporary tattoos weren’t used for a fancy night out, teamed with the some Alexander Wang mini and Miu Miu sandals, but sometimes you just have to make the best out of a bad thing.
The tattoos were surprisingly easy to put on, even on a tricky surface like this, we decided on the classic chain on the top, a Chanel logo on one side and some branches of flowers on the other. Best of all, they’ll last way longer on the cast than they’d do on the flesh.
The result is a decidedly fashionable cast, a cheered up patient, and as there’s 5 pages of tattoos, plenty more left for when she eventually recovers.
