Inside Frieze Art Fair 2013

Inside Frieze Art Fair 2013

Frieze Art Fair – an annual highlight of the London art scene – has just come and gone, and as ever it was a feast for the eyes. I don’t just love the art, but I’m always secretly more excited to see the style of the people attending. As per usual, I took my trusty camera with me to capture some of the best artworks as well as outfits that caught my eye during the exclusive preview last week. There […]

Neon Words

Neon Words

So I have this big, empty, white wall. I sit and stare at it every single day when I’m working from my kitchen table and it just screams for something interesting to happen to it. I’ve considered photography or prints, but I’ve decided what would really look great is a neon artwork, with a word or a quote which could inspire me every day. The only problem is, I don’t think I could ever decide on what would be the […]

Desire Obtain Cherish

Desire Obtain Cherish

A couple of days ago I stumbled across these wonderful Designer Drugs images by LA artist Desire Obtain Cherish. I love when artists take every day objects and transform them into something else, something with meaning, something worth thinking about. Or perhaps it is just what it is – a fun image. Either way, I think they’re great. Wouldn’t it just be great to take a Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton or YSL pill?   All images © Desire Obtain Cherish

Rob Pruitt x Jimmy Choo

Rob Pruitt x Jimmy Choo

Pop artist Rob Pruitt has collaborated with Jimmy Choo on a capsule collection featuring shoes and accessories, on sale from today. Pruitt is best known for his colourful and playful designs, often using the glittery pandas featured on many pieces of the collection. I do love it when fashion brands collaborate with artists, as the result is always a bit different and sometimes even a bit controversial (think Stephen Sprouse for Louis Vuitton) – whilst not everything in the collection […]

Chanel’s Little Black Jacket in London

Chanel’s Little Black Jacket in London

Chanel’s exhibition “The Little Black Jacket” finally landed in London yesterday, and I was there to go check it out! The show features 113 black and white images featuring some of the world’s best known – and some perhaps not so well known – faces from the world of fashion, art, design and music shot by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Carine Roitfeld. What started off as a project for a coffee table book (which I insist you get, I […]

Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition is coming to London

Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition is coming to London

Hooray! Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition is finally arriving in London next week! After traveling the world – Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong – the Little Black Jacket will be opening at the Saatchi Gallery from October 12 for 2 weeks only. The photography exhibition is a tribute to Chanel’s classic black tweed jacket, worn by actors, designers, musicians, models and other creatives, each putting their individual style stamp on this classic piece. The black and white photographs […]

Jealous Print Studio pops up at Heal’s

Jealous Print Studio pops up at Heal’s

For one week only print studio and gallery Jealous is taking over the windows of Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road. As part of their Artists in Residence initiative, a number of Jealous artists will be on site creating their artwork and prints live in store, giving you the opportunity to learn how printmaking works, and even snapping up a limited and signed edition whilst you’re at it. Last night I got a little tour around the pop up, was introduced […]

Exhibition: Fairy-God, Fashion-Mother

Exhibition: Fairy-God, Fashion-Mother

Every so often an email drops into your inbox that can make a shitty day turn around. Hormazd Narielwalla‘s email about his upcoming solo exhibition did just that. As artist-in-residence at Savile Row’s Dege & Skinner, he uses classic cutting patterns to create great collages. A series of these depicting his muse Diane Pernet are now going on display at The Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell, combining my 3 all-time favourite things: fashion, art, and the delicious food at The Modern […]

People watching at Frieze Art Fair 2011

People watching at Frieze Art Fair 2011

Yesterday I attended the preview of the prestigious Frieze Art Fair in Regent’s Park. Here’s what you should know about art fairs: other than the fashion weeks they are the best place to spot Fashion with a capital F. Do you ever wonder who actually buys those incredible clothes and accessories you see on catwalks and in magazines? It’s the art folk. Well booted and accessorised, wearing some amazing – but always understated – designers, this is one of the […]

Art at Annoushka

Art at Annoushka

A while back – I apologise, I’m a slow worker… – I was invited to the Annoushka Jewellery flagship store for a little gander around the new collections and a new art installation. Annoushka Ducas might not be a familiar name to you, but Links of London, the company she famously founded aged just 23, probably is. After selling Links of London a few years ago, Annoushka founded her eponymous fine jewellery label in 2009, with an eye for original […]

René Magritte: The Pleasure Principle at the Tate Liverpool

René Magritte: The Pleasure Principle at the Tate Liverpool

The main reason for my visit to Liverpool this weekend was not only to stay in a plush hotel, of course, but to pay a visit to the recently-opened exhibition at the Tate Liverpool on one of Belgium’s most famous exports (other than me), surrealist painter René Magritte (1898-1967). Whether you’re into art or not, you’ll definitely have come across some of Magritte’s work at some point, perhaps unknowingly. This is the artist known for his witty paintings of men […]
