I love taking my time when it comes to fashion week reviews – during the mayhem of fashion month, we tend to want to churn these reviews out as quick as possible, which sometimes doesn’t allow you to really enjoy the collections, to notice the details and to give it all some time to sink in. These clothes won’t land in stores until January anyway, so I like posting these closer to the date. Well that, and I’ve been super busy and haven’t really had much time to put my reviews up – whichever explanation you prefer.
For SS14, Topshop Unique is sending their girl to the beach, with a collection of summery looks made for the grown up surf babes, the Ibiza party girls, the cool boho chicks. There were flowy sundresses with delicate spaghetti straps, shorts and crop tops, bright suedes and plenty of whites. Make up and hair was kept simple and the shoes were comfy slip on mules and sandals – this is summer dressing at its very easy breezy best.
Topshop’s shows bring as much stargazing on the catwalk as they do on the front row: Kate Moss, Pixie Geldof, Daisy Lowe, Ellie Goulding, Samantha Barks, Suki Waterhouse and Kaya Scodelario made up the the cool London girl gang on the front row, whilst Cara Delevigne stole the show on the catwalk with her playful antics, slapping gal pal Jourdan Dunn on the behind and generally having a ball.
The best part of Topshop Unique’s shows is the accessibility. Come January, these pieces will land in store and online available to everyone, with a very nice little price tag – nothing better, right?
