London Fashion Week seems like ages ago, but I’m still going through my thousands of pictures, digesting, editing and picking my favourite shows. High up on that list was Charlie May‘s show, a fellow blogger and young designer. You may recall I had massive love for Charlie’s SS13 collection, so expectations were high, and I’m glad to tell you she delivered once again. Where SS13 was soft and muted, AW13 was strong and bold, featuring lots of all-white looks (quite a gutsy statement for a winter collection?!) with flashes of grey and oxblood.
As is becoming Charlie’s trademark style, there was lots of layering going on with a variety of materials, from silks to sheers to leather to thick knits, and her knack for clever tailoring prevailed once again. For the first time we also saw a number of handbags, created in collaboration with designer Danielle Foster – the see-through plastic and leather pieces perfectly complimented the collection and are bound to be a big seller.
It’s obvious Charlie is really starting to find her stride, with each collection stronger than the one before. The AW13 collection is sophisticated, chic and ethereal. Congrats Charlie!
