Fragrance: Paul Smith Rose Limited Edition

I get given a *lot* of fragrances doing this job, but whilst I love cheating with different scents from time to time, I’m definitely a one-perfume kinda girl. I tend to fall in love with a scent and stick with it for a number of years (or until the bottle runs out). Those fragrances I love dearly are quite similar in essence: light, fresh and perfect for daily wear – you vaguely know it’s there, but it never overwhelms. I recently looked back at my past perfume relationships and realised I can define my entire life by which scent I wore…

As a kid, it was all about Tartine & Chocolat, followed by Oilily’s perfume (if you’re Belgian and around my age, you’ll know what I’m talking about!). During my teenage years I went through many bottles of Emporio Armani She and later Emporio Armani White. My early Twenties were all about Marc Jacobs’ Daisy, which I still wear sometimes today. In recent years, I’ve worn Chanel Eau Premiere, then Burberry Body and now I’m about to finish a bottle of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche.

I was about to have to make a decision whether or not to re-buy one of my favourites, when this bottle of Paul Smith Rose (2013 Limited Edition) landed on my doorstep. It was an instant, head-over-heels kind of love. When you know, you know.

Paul Smith Rose has been around for a number of years – although I can’t say I knew of it – and every summer a new update is launched in the shape of a limited edition perfume. The 2013 edition is a soft scent with Tea Rose at the center, top notes of white peony and watery flower, heart-notes of magnolia and sandalwood and base notes of cedarwood and white musk. It’s feminine, soft, perfect for summer and complimentary rather than overwhelming.

Over the past few days since I’ve started wearing it, I’ve had several people asking me which perfume I was wearing, which can only mean a good thing. So perhaps in a few years’ time, I’ll look back on this period as the time I wore Paul Smith Rose…
