After years of watching awards ceremonies on tv, I finally got to experience what it was really like when Evian invited me and a couple of other bloggers to attend the 2013 BAFTA’s with them a couple of weeks ago. In my years in the fashion industry, I’ve seen my fair share of celebrities, have gone to numerous glamorous events, so I didn’t think I could get starstruck anymore. WRONG! The BAFTA’s bring glamorous on a whole new level. Never in my life have I seen this many incredible people in one room, so many beautiful gowns, so many faces I’ve grown up watching on the big screen within touching distance. Yep, I was officially starstruck.
It was also a first black tie red carpet event for me, so I nervously spent days getting my outfit together (which I will also cover in a separate post). After a long search I found The Gown from Bastyan. I put my frock on, had my hair styled, wore some serious bling courtesy of The Outnet and headed towards the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden where the ceremony was held. I felt like a princess. Sadly, the Great British Weather decided to ruin our red carpet moment, as the heavens opened up and it started hailing and snowing, so we were rushed inside…
The ceremony was hosted by the wonderful Stephen Fry, who had the room in stitches within minutes. It was incredible to think how many people I’ve admired my entire life were in that same space as me. From the gorgeous men (George Clooney! Ben Affleck! Bradley Cooper! AHHHHH!) to some incredible actresses – Sally Field was such a delight, she’s a true inspiration at 66! Anne Hathaway did her usual awkward speech, whilst Jennifer Lawrence seemed to enjoy every minute of her relatively new fame.
After the ceremony – which was dominated by Ben Affleck’s Argo – we were shipped off in buses to grand Grosvenor House where the dinner would be held, but not before being rained and snowed on again (thanks British weather!). As we arrived, I found myself standing in front of the amazing Ben Affleck as we went down to the dinner area, and when I accidentally bumped into him, he said a friendly hello. Ben Affleck said hello to me! BEN AFFLECK SAID HELLO TO ME! I thought I would die and go to heaven, but the whole event was so starstudded you couldn’t go anywhere without bumping into someone famous. I had to try very hard to play it cool and not go touch George Clooney when I had the chance.
All tables at the dinner were themed by one of the five Best Film nominees and ours was a Zero Dark Thirty themed one, which explains why found a toy tank and plane from the centrepiece in my bag the morning after… After a lovely meal, it was to the dance floor for the after party, which had the Noisettes playing a gig. It was such an incredible night I had to be dragged off the dancefloor to go home, only to find London had been covered in inches of snow whilst we were inside. A magical end to a magical night.
I can’t thank Evian enough for this incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience…

Psssst! Whilst we’re talking Evian… have you got your hands on one of the limited edition 2013 Diane Von Furstenberg bottles yet? I love her quote on the bottle: “Water is life is love is life is water is life”
