Last week I met with young London-based jewellery designer Fannie Schiavoni, ahead of the presentation of her new SS13 collection at London Fashion Week and the launch of her online shop. As of tomorrow, you’ll be able to buy Fannie’s trademark body jewellery directly from her, with a selection of archive pieces to choose from, as well as the option of having bespoke options. I’ve always loved Fannie’s pieces from afar, but seeing up close how intricate they are really impressed me – I got a little demonstration at how the chains and panels are made completely by hand and I can assure you, it’s complicated and delicate and downright confusing.
Fannie Schiavone’s online shop will be live from September 1st, and meanwhile I grabbed Fannie in the midst of her hectic LFW preparations for a 5 minute interview…

One of my favourite quotes can describe this:

How did you get into fashion/design?
When I moved to London at 18, I couldnt figure out your school system, GCSE, A-levels etc. The Swedish system is very different, even though in Sweden I studied 4 maths courses, 2 physics course and even some engineering I didn’t have the equivalent qualifications to study architecture here in London- luckily I found that I could apply for the LCF Diploma in Tailoring.
Where would you like to see Fannie Schiavone in 5 years’ time?
With the help of internet, technology and further globalisation, I will be running my business from a tropical beach. Would be nice to have my own brick’n'mortar store as well.
How does London influence your work?
