I must admit that when I was offered a bag from Kzeniya’s new AW12 range, I’d never heard of the label. But with A-list celebs spotted with the bags all around the globe, and now with Selfridges stocking exclusive editions of the collection, I think it’s time to take notice and introduce you to this great London-based label!
Kzeniya is a young accessories label founded by Kzeniya Oudenot, a St Martin’s graduate who earned her stripes working on costume and set design for operas and ballets, as well as some time at Alexander McQueen. All of these influences are clearly visible in the collection, as every single piece is visually dramatic.
I ended up choosing the gold and bronze clutch for 2 reasons: first of all, I don’t actually own a proper clutch. But if I were to go to an event that required me to carry a clutch, I’d want it to be a real statement piece. That brings me to my second reason: the clash of the gold with the bronze is really amazing, especially when it’s moving and has light reflecting on it.
I got my gorgeous intern Claudia to model the clutch for me, wearing my Markus Lupfer dress (which, quite frankly, looks 10 times better on her). The girl’s a real natural, and shooting her was so much more enjoyable than me fumbling around with a tripod and self-timer, so expect more shoots with her soon!
