Wish Want Wear

Wish Want Wear

I’ve always been a little wary of renting clothing online, scared of the size issue, the dry cleaning bill, the hassle of returning it. Then I was introduced to Wish Want Wear, a new designer rental service that takes all of those worries away, whilst offering some of the best designer dresses on the market.

The whole concept of renting designer dresses is both practical and economical. After all, there’s a sad irony to the way us girls shop: the things we spend the most money on, like a dress to a wedding or a fancy party, we tend to wear only a handful of times. So, companies like Wish Want Wear are doing the buying for you, and you get to hire them for a couple of days, allowing you to mix it up every single time, and not feeling guilty about not wearing that dress you spent a lot of money on yet again.

At the end of the day, we all want to look special (and show off) at the office xmas party or wedding or even just dress up for a date, and Wish Want Wear can help you do that. With labels like Alice Temperley, Milly, Tibi, Halston Heritage, Badgley Mischka and much more, there’s plenty to choose from. Even better – and this is wear WWW stands out from the rest – they work directly with the designers and buy most dresses in every size available, from UK6 to UK18. Some designers even provide exclusives and one-of-a-kind pieces, like an incredible Alice Temperley gown straight from the catwalk).

Once you order your dress in your size, you also have the option of getting the same dress in a different size, for free. Should it still not fit, the team will happily send you another size or model for no extra cost, same day (if you’re in London) and next day everywhere else. The pieces come in a box with a handy return slip, so all you need to do is wear the dress, and send it back – they’ll do the drycleaning for you. (Oh, how I wish I could do that with all my clothes!)

In the next few weeks they’re also launching accessories on the site, like handbags and jewellery by the likes of Tom Binns and Erickson Beamon, so all your dress-up worries are taken care of. There’s also (faux) fur shrugs and jackets to finish it all off.

As a concept, Wish Want Wear is nothing new, but the way they work is different. Liaising directly with the designers, you get the current season – so when it’s in shops, it’s on their site. The buyer has an incredible eye for those wow-dresses, sometimes by labels you may have never heard of, allowing you to experiment with styles and looks you would have never tried before. With prices starting at just £27 for 4 nights’ rental (going up, depending on the dress), it would almost be silly to not hire instead of buy.

Now if only I had an office party to go to… Perhaps I should just wear a pretty gown in my home office and crack open the bubbly.
