Modo Brussels part 1: La Cambre x SADI Seoul Exhibition

Modo Brussels part 1: La Cambre x SADI Seoul Exhibition

Last week I was invited by Modo Brussels to attend the amazing Parcours Modo. We were a little spoiled – traveled on the Eurostar, were put up in the gorgeous Hotel Bloom! and were given a private tour around the Parcours Modo trail and exhibition. I took so many pictures during the trip that I’ve decided to split them up in two different posts: first up is the vernissage of an exhibition about the collaboration between world renowned fashion school La Cambre and SADI in Seoul (SADI stands for Samsung Art & Design Institute, who knew?).

Last year, La Cambre professors Didier Vervaeren (who guided us along) and Tony Delcampe were invited to Seoul to conduct a workshop for the 2nd year fashion design students. In this workshop, they were asked to create a jacket featuring woven and metal elements. The result is 32 very different jackets, which are now on display in a great space just around the corner of the Rue Dansaert, known for its many fashion-forward designer boutiques.

We were given a brief intro by SADI’s professor who explained how much of a shock the different way of designing in Europe was to theirs (there, they design by the rules, here, creativity is encouraged in every way possible). It’s great to see so many different interpretations of the same brief in one room, together with some pieces from La Cambre’s second year students.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Brussels soon!
