MELISSA + Gareth Pugh
Gareth Pugh will always have a special place in my heart as his AW ’07 show was the very first fashion show I ever attended… (Amazing, RIGHT?) Then still the new kid on the block who had yet to sell a single item, the designer has since conquered the fashion world and is a firm household name at Paris Fashion Week. Now Pugh has partnered with Brazilian footwear label MELISSA, who, had actually provided him with the footwear for his second ever LFW show many seasons ago.
The result of the collaboration are 2 styles: the classic “Ultragirl” flats and avant-garde architectural “Aileron” gladiator-style sandals, both in his signature monochrome patterns, both costing just £70. Of the collaboration, Pugh said: “I was very interested into the idea of being able to offer something of an access level product with a high quality and that has a certain consistency with what I do in my own line. MELISSA is a perfect partnership for me with their creative approach and innovative way of working.”
The London Launch party was held last week at Layers, stockists of the Gareth Pugh mainline collection, and now also exclusively of the MELISSA collaboration. Sadly I couldn’t be there to see the shoes for myself (I was in NYC over the weekend), but here are some images of the collection for you anyway.
MELISSA + Gareth Pugh is for sale at Layers, in store and online
