London Fashion Week SS12: Mulberry
There are few things as fun during London Fashion Week as the Mulberry show (and afterparty). This season the label got its inspiration from the Great British Summers at the coast. Outside we were treated to ice cream from an old-fashioned van and home made lemonade, whilst inside the rooms in the Claridges Ballroom were transformed into a jungle of inflated animal balloons. The catwalk resembled a fairground ride and the models had coloured streaks in their hairs, reminiscent of candyfloss.
I went for the second of the presentations, and ended up missing Kate Moss and Kristen Stewart on the front row… bummer. Instead I got Olivia Palermo and Irina Lazareanu, not quite as exciting… The collection was fun and wearable, with lots of great animal prints, sequins, floaty sheer skirts and great outerwear (because, well, this is a British summer after all). I *loved* the superhigh woven and leather wedges, which looked so comfy. And of course, the bags. Oh, the bags! From classic Bayswater bags to travel bags to clutches to updated versions of the Alexa bag… The Travel Day Bag in Green Lizard Print Leather might well become my first ever Mulberry bag!
