London Fashion Week SS12: Markus Lupfer
German designer Markus Lupfer turned the trendy St. Martin’s lane hotel into a jungle filled with wild creatures for his SS12 presentation. The models were wearing very lifelike masks, transforming them into a monkey, a wolf, an elephant and a zebra, whilst sporting the German designer’s nature-inspired collection. They interacted with the public, each playing a little character: the wolf was a little naughty, the monkey pretty happy, the elephant a bit timid in the back and the zebra was just… you know, zebra-like. As we had just returned from the Mulberry show, there were also a bunch of animal balloons people had “borrowed”, perfectly complimenting the jungle theme.
Whilst inside it was all fun and games (just asked the little girl next to me who screamed with delight when the wolf growled at her), outside the full collection was displayed on a rail, and Markus himself was on hand for a little explanation. As ever with his clothes, it was mostly fun, casual daywear with the sweater as the main piece. There were lots of animal-inspired sequin applications and embroideries, grey wool sweaters and denim shirts.
Fun presentation, fun collection.
