London Fashion Week SS12: Bora Aksu

There’s one thing you can always be certain of when you go to a Bora Aksu show: they’re very photogenic. For his SS12 show the catwalk consisted of thousands of black and orange leaves, making a dramatic statement. The show started with a finale of around 10 models, angelically dressed in all-white, with flower headpieces. The look was typical Bora Aksu: a patchwork of materials and techniques, this season with a slight Edwardian inspiration. Broderie Anglaise, lace, sheer panels, draping and pleating, all combined with his trademark panelled tights (which you can now buy from his website for £25!).

The angelic whites evolved to darker navy and black, with the occasional bright splash of coral and turquoise to brighten it all up. For the first time we saw some truly amazing daywear, and a handful of evening gowns I cannot wait to spot on a red carpet! The blue ruffled maxi skirt is just a true piece of art waiting to make it onto a best dressed list.
