As of today, Chanel has taken over Harrods, and the result of this collaboration is, for lack of a better word, magical.
I’m still slightly flustered and overexcited and giddy as I write this post, because loyal readers will know about my love for Chanel, so imagine my excitement after seeing the massive 350 square metre installation called “Une Promenade”, which guides you through the world of Chanel, all the famous Harrods windows featuring the AW11 collection, a pop up fashion boutique with more bags than one can imagine (including some exclusives for the occasion) and a massive beauty boutique featuring all your favourite products plus a few exclusives – and a photobooth. Yep, I’m still slightly overwhelmed by it all!
For 3 weeks only, you’ll be able to discover the world of Chanel (finishing September 24th), and if you’re in London at all, I urge you to go for a visit. Fans of the brand will go crazy, but you don’t even need to be a Chanel fan to appreciate it – the installation is phenomenal. Imagine Disneyland, but Chanel-style.
“Une Promenade” is arranged in several sections, based around some of Chanel’s famous numbers. You enter them through the main room a garden scene based on the SS11 show decor (the show I was lucky enough to attend), then you go into different sections: 2.55 for the bag, where a video installation takes you through the entire creation of the iconic quilted bag – incredible! 31 stands for 31, Rue Cambon, where Coco Chanel’s apartment was, and the room is devoted to the haute couture part of the brand. 54 stands for the legendary Chanel tweed jacket, 5 stands for the Nº5 perfume, and so on. You just have to go by and discover it for yourself, the installation opens to the public tomorrow. That’s an ORDER!
