Last week I checked in to the one-night-only HP Hotel for the launch of the brand new HP Touchpad. We were treated wonderful night in the makeshift Fourties hotel, full of shenanigans and unexpected performances, and an introduction to the brand new HP Touchpad which lands in stores next week.

The hotel staff played their roles so convincingly, it felt like we had accidentally walked into a big production happening all around us. The ‘cleaning’ staff broke out in several mob-style dances, we were treated to a performance from a “Hollywood star”, who had the Fourties’ paparazzi in a flutter, a doorman checked us into (non-existing) rooms,… Catapulting us right back into the 21st century, we also got to play with the Touchpad, and were treated to some dancefloor tracks by Paloma Faith, who appeared to be DJ’ing out of a vintage suitcase (as you do).

All in all a really great night – perhaps a little too great, judging by my headache the day after – and possibly one of the most original launches I have EVER attended. The geeks can definitely teach the fashion crowd a thing or two on how it’s done!
