Art at Annoushka

A while back – I apologise, I’m a slow worker… – I was invited to the Annoushka Jewellery flagship store for a little gander around the new collections and a new art installation.

Annoushka Ducas might not be a familiar name to you, but Links of London, the company she famously founded aged just 23, probably is. After selling Links of London a few years ago, Annoushka founded her eponymous fine jewellery label in 2009, with an eye for original design. The flagship shop tucked behind Sloane Square is a real treat, crammed full of wonderful pieces, ranging from classic pearls to truly one of a kind pieces designed by herself (and everything happens in a workshop on the premises) to collaborations with some wonderful young talent.

This year, Annoushka is also taking a step into the art world, with 3 small exhibitions in which she is aiming to display jewellery in a different light. First up was Dutch artist Bouke de Vries, who often works with “exploding” porcelain items and incorporated pieces from Annoushka’s collection into his work. The result makes for a fun, quirky and sometimes cheeky collaboration.

Because I was so slow in posting this, I’m afraid this exhibition is no longer in stores, but keep an eye out for the next one, coming in September.
