Afternoon tea with Elizabeth Lau

On Wednesday I was invited to a delightful afternoon tea at the studio of young London designer Elizabeth Lau. Her slightly tongue-in-cheek designs caught my eye a while back when I spotted Jen aka The Style Crusader in one of her designs, and I’ve been a massive fan ever since.

For the afternoon, Elizabeth had not only set up an impressive spread – heart-shaped sandwiches! Bespoke Cupfectionary “cakes”! Cider in vintage teacups! – but had also called some of her friends in the fashion world, who more than happily donated an array of amazing gifts for a little raffle. My favourite Linda Farrow snakeskin sunnies were one of the prizes, sadly I didn’t win them, but I did win a big, badass Nails Inc box packed with nailpolishes and treatments.

It felt like being at an old-school birthday party, just with more fashionable people, and much better clothes. We got to have a little peek at the AW11 collection, which will be on sale in Elizabeth’s brand new online shop launching later this summer (August, I’ll keep you posted on the exact date).

Afternoons like this definitely make work that little bit more fun. Thank you so much Elizabeth and team for having us around (and my beautiful gift!)!
