As high street and designer collaborations go, Desigual and Christian Lacroix is a little unexpected, but thinking about it, it fits perfectly.
It’s been a tough couple of years for French haute couture designer Christian Lacroix, whose eponymous label went into bankruptcy in 2009 after 22 years. He lost the right to design under his own name – now goes by Monsieur Lacroix – and has since had a couple of corporate jobs (the uniforms for Air France and a French train operator personnel), but the collaboration with Spanish high street brand Desigual is a first step back into fashion.
The collaboration seems almost natural. Desigual is known for its use of bright colours and clashing materials – something which Monsieur Lacroix was always associated with. The clothes will be in typical Lacroix-style, ever so slightly extravagant and over the top, but with the wearability and price tag of the Desigual brand. Here’s your exclusive first peek at the new collection landing in stores and online on July 11th, I can’t wait to see the rest!
