Doggy Style at Topshop AW11

I feel like I’ve been living in AW11 already. First at the shows in February, then showrooms and then for the past 2 months, it feels like all I’ve been doing is hop from press day to press day (with a little Australia break in the middle), and quite frankly, it’s starting to wear me down a little. I could probably fill the blog for weeks with just press day coverage, but that would just be boring. So I’ll try to spread it out a little (summer’s not even here yet, we’ve got some time for AW11, right?)

Topshop Unique‘s catwalk collection took a dramatic turn from the Seventies-hippie-dip-dye-vibe last season to a 101 Dalmatians inspired story for next winter. It was unexpected and quite funny, and with Katie Grand’s styling, a little over the top (just how we love it), but a collection doesn’t always necessarily translate from the catwalk to stores, so I was excited to see how much of the spotted pieces would actually make it into Topshop’s collection. I’m happy to report: doggie style rules for next season!

From really explicit references – like the dog embellishments on the Dalmatian print belt – to slightly more subtle printed dresses, coats and dresses, always with a slight hint of Cruella de Vil. There’s also a bunch of accessories with the black & white print, like shoes and handbags.

There are of course a ton more stories in the Topshop AW11 collection, bright colour pops, flowery prints, gorgeous (velvet) shoes, delicate dresses and big furry coats, but sadly I’m limited in the amount of pics I can share with you.

I never thought I’d say this, but the trenchcoat with Dalmatian print sleeves will be mine.

P.S. Pardon my horribly crude attention-grabbing title. I couldn’t NOT do it.
