Chanel Confidential

A few weeks ago, at the Chanel press day, I was introduced to Chanel Confidential – the brand new site for the brand dedicated to make up only. Make up artist Lisa Eldridge was on hand to talk me through the website and the wonderful easy-to-follow videos she’s created for the site.

Now, if you know me at all, when it comes to make up, I’m a complete dummy. Black mascara, foundation and black eyeliner if I’m going out, but that’s about it. No lipstick, eyeshadows, blushers. Not because I don’t want to, but mostly because I’ve never really been told how to use them. Chanel offered me a little session at the make up counter in Selfridges where I was talked through every step of the process. I learned a LOT.

Then last week, a selection of the new SS11 goodies arrived at my door so I could experiment with them at home. (I’m a lucky girl…) I still prefer a natural look to heavy make up and would never spend half an hour ‘doing my face’, but with Lisa Eldrige’s handy videos (“How to achieve perfect skin”) and a bunch of products I’d never have considered, I’m slowly converting into a make lover.

So make sure you check out Chanel Confidential for more tips, previews, behind the scenes and interviews with the likes of Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Make Up or an exclusive performance by Vanessa Paradis (face of the Rouge Coco lipglosses). It works as a magazine, so is updated with new content every month.

My favourite bit? Some of the puppets, spiders, robots,… Peter Philips created with Chanel make up packaging. Have a look at THE best video below.

Some of my pics from the press days, and the wonderful Chanel puppets!

My attempt at recreating a fresh, summery face with my new Chanel goodies. (and first ever make up post, so be nice!)

Luckiest, most spoilt girl in the world! Merci Chanel!

Barefaced. Oh the horror!

Dabbing a bit of Mat Lumière foundation all over my face. Feels really light, but not really thick enough to cover my blemishes. Has SPF15, a must!

Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Cassis. Easy to put on, long lasting and a lot less harsh than black. Really brings out the greens/blues in my eyes! Finish with putting a thin contour of brown liquid eyeliner and black mascara.

This has to be my favourite, the brand new Soleil Tan de Chanel palette (limited edition too). Perfect for creating sun-kissed skin and a pink cheek. You can use each colour separately or blend them all. It’s subtle, and gave me some much-needed colour!

Finish off with a lipgloss (Lèvres Scintillantes in Pink Peony) which is virtually see-through, but for a non-lipstick wearer such as myself, that’s enough.

Et Voilà! 5 mins, much improved.
