Ah… Dark Horse Ornament. I first spotted some pieces at the Push PR press day a few weeks ago. Then after that several times in my dreams. Yes, it must be love… Dark Horse Ornament’s colourful and fun jewellery has captured my heart.

I asked the lovely PR if I could perhaps one day borrow them. Play dress up with them. Dance a little with them. I picked them up yesterday from EC One, who stock the designs, and finally got my greedy little hands on them. The long white and pink fringed earrings brought out my inner hippie and are perfect to go along with the current dip-dye two-tone hair trend. The tassled and fringed leather bracelets couldn’t be more on trend either, as they go perfectly with the deckshoes and tassle brogue trend we have for summer. Sadly the tassle necklaces were just sold out in the shop (they’re still online), so I didn’t get to play with them.

Dark Horse Ornament is the brainchild of designer Jenny Hattersley and it’s everything I like about fashion jewellery: fun, different, original, colourful and best of all, affordable. The earrings are at the top of my wishlist now I’ve discovered they’re only £27 – and I NEVER usually wear earrings, the white fringed cuff a close second at just £96. Another great example of how beautiful things don’t need to cost the earth and how there’s always another alternative to the high street.

Sadly, I had to return the pieces at the end of the day…
