Benetton / Sisley AW11

I was definitely a Benetton-baby. As a kid I was always dressed in the brightest colours, prints and most out-there combinations. My mom had a wild sense of fashion for me, to say the least. I probably lost sight of Benneton when I reached my teens, always dressed in either my uniform or pretty simple colours. At the Benetton press day I suddenly had hundreds of flashbacks and I must admit it’s pretty fun rediscovering a label you grew up in and had forgotten all about!

Benetton isn’t for everyone, I’ll agree. It’s bright and sometimes flashy and out there, and I guess that often puts people off from going into the shops, but if you give it a few minutes of your time, you’ll find some real gems, I promise you. For next winter, they’re not going the obvious black/grey/brown-route, but they’re sticking to happy colours. Pops of orange and mustard yellow stand out between the beiges and tweeds. I loved the simple cape and the Chanel-esque tweed shorts (which has a matching jacket if you want to go all out).

The knitwear is also pretty dominant, which almost makes me long for colder days again. (I said ALMOST!) There was some yummy food as well, pretty and colourful, absolutely appropriate for the collection!

Benetton’s sister label, Sisley on the other hand, had a slightly more neutral tone and a more Seventies vibe to it. There was a bit of paisley, plenty of faux-fur, flares and pop of red, but otherwise a pretty toned-down collection. The brown duffel coat is definitely on my wishlist for next season.
