EMU Australia Pop Up

Last night I went to a bloggers’ night at the new EMU Australia pop up on the fashionable Lamb’s Conduit Street. For 3 months you’ll find all the EMU sheepskin boots and wonderful new apparel range at their first ever shop in London. Myself and a few other lovely bloggers were invited to learn about the history of the brand (130 years!), have a gossip and a glass of bubbles, try the shoes on and even take some home with us.
Now, I’ve not exactly been the biggest fan of sheepskin footwear, but when I went to New York a few months ago I borrowed my mom’s pair and had to reluctantly accept that yes, it is like walking on a cloud. With warm feet. If you wear them for the right reasons at the right times, I’ll admit, they can be really lovely. So I it was great to see how EMU have evolved their basic models into different lengths, colours, leather boots (with sheepskin lining), desert boots, and the cutest kids’ range.
We also learned a bit about the craft and the technology that goes into them – like fibreglass around the back of the boots to avoid that wonky stepping-next-to-the-soles-syndrome a lot of the cheaper ones have. You know what I’m talking about. They’re also ridiculously waterproof, as we saw when one of the girls poured a glass of water over them. To top it off, they’re a lot cheaper than eh… that other brand.
The biggest surprise is the apparel range though – even if you don’t like the shoes, I suggest a trip down there for the clothes. It’s classic and simple, with the focus on materials (leather jackets that felt like BUTTER, I tell you).
I’d been planning on doing a series of posts on Australian brands ahead of my trip there in a month, so this was an ideal introduction to the theme. Keep reading for more like these soon!
Thanks for the lovely team at Cube for having us!

This jacket was the real star of the night… I’m obsessed. If it’s good enough for Alexa Chung, it’s good enough for me.
