Dorothy Perkins Denim Challenge Day 5: Wideleg

Just can’t believe it’s the last day of the Dorothy Perkins Denim Challenge already! I have to admit: I had a surprisingly great time doing this. Where I was so apprehensive in the beginning of the week, scared even, I have been on a bit of a rollercoaster, learned about style blogging (difficult!), had tons of lovely comments and emails encouraging me and even went out to an official event wearing… flares!!! Yep, you can well and truly say I’ve fallen back in love with jeans, and not the ones I was expecting.
I decided to roadtest today’s pair, the wideleg jeans (or megasuperflares as I prefer to call them), at an event yesterday – where everyone seemed to love them – but also at my meeting at art/fashion concept store Guts for Garters, where we had an impromptu photoshoot. I teamed them up with one of the completely whacky Grace du Prez pieces for today’s shoot and it looked oddly appropriate with the flares. Sadly, when I uploaded the pictures onto my computer I was absolutely gutted to find out you couldn’t see the trousers very well, so I had to re-shoot at home. I will show you the pictures in a separate post though, as they’re too much fun not to use!
So for the re-shoot I decided to team them with my Topshop superwedges from earlier in the week, as the flares completely hide them and make me seem so much taller, hence slimmer. These trousers have a definite Seventies vibe, so I thought I’d play it up a little and wore bright colours and sequins, but not much else – these trousers speak for themselves.
I hate to admit it, but they’re my new favourites. Bye bye skinnies, hello flares. They’re comfy and flattering and just ridiculously fun, and fun is perhaps something I need to get back in my clothes. As much as I love my neverending stream of black dresses and skirts, this week has made me look at my wardrobe in a different way and I realised it could do with a little spicing up. So if you see me around one of these days, it might well be in a pair of jeans…
Thanks for coming on this little journey with me!
