MCM Blogger Event

Last night I was invited to an intimate blogging get-together at the sumptuous MCM Sloane Street Store. Ahead of all the London Fashion Week mania, it was lovely to spend a relaxed evening sipping gorgeous cocktails, eating the most delicious bites, have a little gossip and play with the many bags on display. I really, really can’t complain.

A lot of the bags I’d seen before at the press day, like the colourful Shanghai Collection, a collaboration with artist Craig Redman, the Patricia Field bags and MCM’s mainline collection. But it’s always nice to see a collection go from a catwalk or press day display to actually landing in stores a few months later, when the customer finally gets their hands on them!

The biggest surprise was the latest collaboration with cult Japanese hip-hop brand Phenomenon (who I have to admit I’d never heard of before last night – does that make me uncool?). A series of leopard print and black leather bags, satchels and smaller goods like iPad and iPhone cases were pretty eye catching! The bags are covered with gold brass plates making the collection even more bling. It’s luxurious and over the top and every girl’s dream – yet the collection was actually designed for men! In Japan, maybe, but I can’t see many British men carrying these bags. Oh well, more for us…!

Thank you so much for a lovely evening to MCM Devetta PR, Mademoiselle Robot, Style Slicker, BitchBuzz, and the many others there! My London Fashion Week batteries are now officially charged!

P.S. Check out the window they put up that day for the Craig Redman collection. So “too cool for Sloane Street”. I love it!
