Kipling x Peter Pilotto, Part 2

Over the past year, there’s certain brands I’ve developed a special relationship with – Kipling is definitely one of them. I love the people who work with the brand, and I love how I’ve been given the chance to rediscover a brand from my childhood in Belgium all over again.

After last season’s super successful and much talked about collaboration with Peter Pilotto I couldn’t wait to see who they would be collaborating with for Spring/Summer. Little did I know when I walked into the press preview it was actually Pilotto again. The guys are so lovely and down to earth – I actually interviewed the duo for another project earlier this week, but more on that another time – so I loved seeing this partnership continue. Just like last season, a lot of the focus is again on the futuristic prints, but this time in different colours and models.

This time they stuck to one print, the Milkyway, simple and almost retro, in different colours and combinations. There’s green, blue, grey and yellow coulours, all with the extra furry signature monkeys, at the request of the boys apparently! Not just the prints and colour combinations were different to last season, the models have changed as well. There’s the duffel bag, backpack, holdalls, across-body bags and smaller make up pouches. No doubt the Peter Pilotto collaboration will be yet another sell out for Kipling…

The rest of the SS11 collection offered just what we’ve come to expect from Kipling: lots of bright colours, handy and practical bags, and a couple of interesting special editions. For example, there’s the festival bag, which can be worn as a bumbag or across body, and has a foiled section to keep your drinks cool and a padded pouch to keep your camera safe. There’s the new DJ bag, created for one of the Kipling team members who’s also a DJ. There’s the limited edition collaboration with O.P.I., for whom they’ve created a little heart-shaped pouch which holds 3 colours of nailpolish (available from end of February, unfortunately, otherwise a perfect Valentine’s gift).

Yep, I’m very excited about Kipling x Peter Pilotto II, but a little birdie told me the next collaboration will be pretty spectacular as well. Sadly, I couldn’t get birdie to spill… You’ll have to wait and see, but I’m sure you’ll find out here first!
