Second on my schedule, whilst I was still fresh and bright, I was treated to a front row seat at the new On/Off venue for the amazing duo Jena Theo, the former Fashion Fringe winners. I was sat next to the wonderful Lady Lloyd, who I’d been gawping at on the way in – the way he handled those Lady Gaga-esque heelless platforms down wobbly Mercer Street was downright impressive. I had to ask, and he said they were actually surprisingly comfortable. The Vivienne Westwood muse was wearing one of her coats, which he’d painted himself. A pretty impressive front row partner, to say the least.
Jena Theo’s AW11 collection was named Valkyrie, after Norse mythology. The girls had Zorro-style dark makeup and loose, messy hairdos, perfectly rockchick to suit the clothes. There were superskinny trousers, layered, loose silk tops and flashes of leather and knitwear. The biggest statement piece was no doubt the oversized quilted coat with geometric shapes which looked like a big warm hug.
Big, big love for this young duo.
