David Koma for Topshop

When these images for David Koma‘s new collaboration with Topshop landed in my inbox back in November (yes, NOVEMBER) I nearly flipped. The collection is amazing, I couldn’t wait to share it. Then another email followed saying that these were for print magazines only – online publication was embargoed until February.
I’m horrible at keeping secrets!
So I kept the images in a little folder, looked at them every once in a while, and longed for the day I could share them with you. That day is finally here. Thank god.
For those of you who don’t know David Koma, here’s a quick intro: the Georgian born designer is a Central Saint Martins graduate who’s been making quite a name for himself on the London fashion scene with his structural, bodycon dresses. He has since been awarded the prestigious NEWGEN sponsorship. Last year, Koma was thrust into the limelight when Cheryl Cole, in her quest to be more “fashion”, chose to wear one of his dresses on the X Factor last year, causing a bit of furore amongst viewers and the fashion crowd alike. Beyoncé was spotted in one of his creations as well.
His collections so far have been very limited and hard to find, so the collaboration with Topshop should have been a great way for him to reach a greater public. However, you’ll have to be just as quick, as only 30 pieces of each of the 5 items will be made, making this a hugely limited and collectible collection. Prices range from £100 to £350 and the collection will be available from the Oxford Street Store, the New York Store and online at www.topshop.com.
David Koma for Topshop goes on sale February 16th, just in time for London Fashion Week! Get your claws out.
