As I’ve been stuck at home with my wonky ankle for the past few weeks I haven’t been able to go to a whole bunch of really exciting events, which is absolutely killing me. Luckily I still have tons of press day pictures I haven’t had a chance to put up yet, so that should keep the blog going for a little while, until I’m up and running again! Today I start with the Devetta PR press day, held in the beautiful Conservatory on Cavendish Square.
I’ve gotten to know the lovely folks at Devetta PR pretty well recently during my adventures at the MCM Blogger Makeover photoshoot and the Shanghai Tang bloggers breakfast, so I was pretty excited to see what the next season holds in store for their clients.
There were too many lovely things to put up here, so here’s a selection of my favourite brands:
The new season of MCM includes a fantastic, colourful collaboration with artist Craig Redman – called the Shanghai Collection. The ropes are a reference to Shanghai’s ancient shipping tradition, and they’re all finished off with an anchor and tassle ‘keychain’. The bags are still classic, but the prints are pretty wild! Further on in the collection there were the classic MCM bags, as well as some new additions, like the leather backpack (with adorable little pet keychain).
Old England Watches
These watches are a relaunch of the label that was originally founded in 1967 and worn by The Beatles and Twiggy and pretty much all Sixties icons. They used to be on sale at the Beatles’ famous Apple Store. Now they’re back once again and although I found them somewhat too much, too big at first, I must admit I did start to really love them after a while after spotting them on the arms of several Devetta girls. Retro at its finest.
I used to wear Kookai as a kid, then lost sight of them, but I must admit this SS11 collection really won me over again. Lots of lovely pieces, some amazing suede trousers (if only…) and gorgeous summer scarves.
This Dutch designer just showed this collection at London Fashion Week and by the looks of it, I missed out. The collection has an Alexander Wang-esque luxury sportswear feel to it, with a focus on cut and materials (suede shorts with matching sportsjacket? Why yes, that’s what I’ll wear to the gym from now on!). He’s definitely on my radar now, hope I can check his show out in February!
Scottish cashmere label brought its usual lovely (soft) collection, but it’s the kid’s clothes that really caught my eye. The little his ‘n hers shirts with reversible cuff are just too adorable for words. As I’m an auntie to 2 little boys, suddenly kid’s clothing has become a very exciting world to me!
