BEEN by D’heygere

During my trip to Paris I had planned to visit a bunch of showrooms, meet designers and see their collections up close. However, with Chanel taking up more of my time than I had expected, I didn’t make it to any of them (not that I’m complaining of course!).

One of the collections I was looking forward to seeing was BEEN by D’heygere, a new legging and cycling shorts line by designer Stéphanie D’heygere. Stéphanie isn’t just supertalented (she graduated from the famous Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and has been working at Zac Posen, Jeremy Scott, Peter Jensen and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac since), she’s also a childhood friend of mine from Belgium, so I feel like a very proud mummy right now!

Together with her younger brother Benoit she has decided to finally start up a line of her own, and as an avid legging wearer, she decided to go for what she knows best: legwear. The label’s name, BEEN means leg in Flemish, clever, innit?

But then, in a funny twist of fate, I bumped into Stéphanie and our friend Laura on the beautiful Pont Alexandre III, so I got to snap a few pics of the leggings after all. The line is mostly about the print, with this season a focus on enlarged fruit prints (pineapple, melon, banana, …). It’s kooky, colourful and best of all, clever. The lookbook as well as all of their promotional material is a little bit tongue-in-cheek, I couldn’t help but smile! This was the first presentation to press and buyers, and I hear it was received warmly and some really great stores are showing interest.

Good luck Steph & Benoit! x
