Bloggers and Drunken Monkeys

I’m a little late in posting this, as everyone else already their posts up for a while, but better late than never…
Last Friday I went to the Drunken Monkey in Shoreditch for my first ever big blogger meetup. Through the miracle of Twitter we assembled around 20 fellow fashion bloggers for some cocktails, Dim Sum and a lovely catch up with a bunch of likeminded people.

Some of them I already knew, like my dearly beloved Frankie from Swell Vintage, Fiona from Save Our Shoes, Kate from The Fabric of My Life, Lira Leirner from The Portmanteau and Katie Antoniou whom I met just the day before. Others I had been dying to meet in real life, like the gorgeous Natasha Baillie, Mariana from Sketchbook Magazine and Reena from Fashion Daydreams, to name just a few.

Blogger meetups are quite a funny thing. Often you know the blog, but not the person behind it. Or you’ll have been talking to someone on Twitter for ages, but not know what they look like, so when you finally meet them, you’re like old friends. The place was a little loud and busy, as it was a Friday evening, so I didn’t get to talk to everyone as much as I wanted unfortunately.

I was a little scared meeting this many strangers I wouldn’t know what to talk about, but finding things to talk about was never a problem. Funnily enough, we didn’t mention our blogs much at all – I guess that was just the thing that may have brought us together, but not necessarily what we’re all about. A little dance and drink later, we all set off home with a bunch of new friends and plans for the next meet up already on the way. If you’re also a blogger, make sure you get in touch, the more the merrier!

I didn’t take as many pictures as I wanted to, so I’m sorry if not everyone is featured. Make sure to check out all the blogs I’ve mentioned in this post, as they’ve also written about the meetup, with more and better pictures.

Only disappointment of the night… there were no real drunken monkeys.
