my birthday is coming up soon, so I thought I’d let you know I found yet another perfect present, you know, just in case you were still looking. It’s only a month-ish away after all…
I’ve been in love with the Proenza Schouler PS1 bags for so long now, well-documented on this very blog, but then they showed their Resort 2011 collection a few days ago and well… The PS1, but much, much BIGGER!
The clothes were really nice too, full of exotic Indian influences, lots of shorts, a bit more like a citygirls’ perfect summer wardrobe rather than resort perhaps? But these bags are sure to be the biggest sellers of the collection – pun intended.
Of course they won’t land in stores until November and will have a waiting list a mile long, but well, just thought I’d let you know I wouldn’t mind one of these at all.
Love,
your much deserving daughter.

I’m not much of a sandal person. First of all, they’re just too flat, secondly, I’m not a big fan of looking at other people’s toes, unless they’re immaculately pedicured. Let’s face it, toes can be pretty disgusting. I don’t own many pairs, and the ones I do are cheap and out of necessity, they cause me blisters and much agony, and are one of the only reasons I hate summer. So you can only imagine my surprise when I fell completely head over heels with Opening Ceremony’s latest collaboration with K. Jacques.
K. Jacques is a French company that has been handmaking their leather sandals for over 80 years, so you could say they know a thing or two about them. Their stuff is pretty basic, with a few forays into ‘Fashion’ (zebra, leopard, studs), but here it’s more about quality than the design, so that’s where Opening Ceremony comes in.
Together they’ve made 5 limited edition designs: 3 for women, 2 for men. The Parys Gladiator in particular caught my eye (see above), specifically the colour combo one. Can’t choose between green patent, blue python, yellow leather, nude or leopard ponyskin? Oh well – WHY NOT HAVE IT ALL! As kitsch as that sounds, it just works. At $290 a pop, they don’t come cheap, but if you think about it, they’re 5 sandals in 1?
