Meeting new old friends

Fiona, Dollie and Frankie at EC One

A couple of posts ago I mentioned how my online life was fast turning into real life. As the blog started taking over my life in just 6 months, life is becoming anything but ordinary right now and I’m enjoying every minute of it. As I work from home alone so don’t have the normal colleague office-situation. My fellow bloggers and tweeters have become the people I moan to, discuss work with, gossip with.

As nerdy as that sounds, we’re often people in the same situation and there’s an awful lot of love in our little community. So when we get an invitation to go to an opening, a launch, a party – and we get a lot – we go, not just because we want to stock up on the freebies, but because we want our after-work drinks with colleagues just like everybody else.

I used to be quite shy and reserved when it came to meeting new people, now I’m an outgoing and chatty person, because when we meet, we’re often already the best of friends. Then throw in a Bellini and a canapé or two and you’ve got yourself a blogger party.

This is what happened when I met Lira Leirner, who I wrote about earlier this week, and it again happened last week when I met with the lovely Frankie from Swell Vintage and Fiona of Save Our Shoes at the EC One jewellery event on Exmouth Market.

We drooled over some of the amazing jewellery on display. Me over the two-tone Fiona Paxton necklace I’m still dreaming of at night, Fiona even bought some Nicholas King neon plastic… cuffs? They also serve perfectly as self-defence devices, and for £8 a pop, very worth it. But mostly, we chatted, gossiped and played around with Dollie the doll.

Not at any time was it strange to meet up with virtual strangers, in a way we’ve known each other for so long it just seemed normal to be doing this. In a few weeks we have a big blogger meet up lined up, which I’m looking forward to, as there’s still some girls I’m dying to meet! If you want to get involved, drop me a line, the more the merrier!

So thank you to the great peeps at EC One and Push PR for a lovely night which allowed some new old friends to finally meet!
