Maison Louis Vuitton Opening

Last night the Louis Vuitton Maison finally opened on Bond Street after many, many moons. Yes, there were many celebs and the store is beyond beautiful and Donna Summer played at the after-party, but you’ll probably have read this somewhere else by now, so let’s not repeat ourselves here.

What I found most interesting about the event were the clothes worn by the celebs. Not in a “who wore it best” kinda way (Gemma Arterton, in case you were wondering), but the way people were wearing the new A/W10 collection.

Let me explain myself a little better. See, the Louis Vuitton A/W10 collection is basically all about full, calf-length skirts, ultra-feminine with an almost vintage feel. When I first saw it on the catwalk, I thought this would only appeal to a certain woman, not the younger It-girls LV has been aiming for in the past few years.

As it turns out, I was completely wrong. Every younger girl (or their stylist) appeared to have chosen one of those dresses, and somehow looked damn sexy in them. The ‘older’ generation, however, all chose for more obvious dresses with a certain sex-appeal, (legs, boobs, both), as if they’re scared that this is the only way that they could still convey any kind of sexuality, almost desperat Quite frankly, the girls outclassed the women here every time.

I really applaud the girls for all making a statement like this, because last night proved that having your bum or boobs out doesn’t necessarily make you any sexier at all. Here’s an A/W10 trend I can subscribe to!

Gemma Arterton, 24 and Gwyneth Paltrow, 37

Kirsten Dunst, 28 and Thandie Newton, 37

Alexa Chung, 26, and Elle Macpherson, 47

Thank god there’s always Alice Dellal (22) to prove any kind of theory wrong:
