It’s been a while since I did one of these, but I’m making up for it with one gigantic post.

Meet Fanny & Jessy, two young designers barely out of their London College of Fashion diapers and already making a splash on the fashion scene. They showed their second collection, Vaniloquence, to great acclaim during London Fashion Week and recently Lady Gaga was spotted wearing one of their jackets (as well as some hideous pink shorts… but that’s a different story).

With their perfect mix of East London edginess, unisex pieces and the Gaga on their side, they’re about to take over the universe soon, so let me introduce you to the brains behind Fanny & Jessy… Fanny & Jessy!

Alex: Hello there, I’m Alex. Who are you?
F&J: Frances Usher, 23 and Jessie Jobst, 24, both from Somerset.

A: Tell me about ‘Vaniloquence’.
F&J: It’s our second collection, it was shown off-schedule at London Fashion Week for AW10. Vaniloquence means vain or foolish talk, which represented our mood at the time.
It’s a great word. Must start using it in conversation as of now…

A: What/who inspires you?
F&J: It changes all the time …. but right now we’re inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and Italian film director Federico Fellini.

A: Lady Gaga recently wore some of your pieces. Did you both die and go to heaven?
F&J: Lady Gaga wearing Fanny and Jessy is pretty amazing yeah…we’re proud to say that the only time Lady Gaga was caught dressing down she was wearing our jacket!!

A: How important is it for celebs to be spotted wearing clothes from a young label like yourself?
F&J: Its a good way of raising the profile of the brand and getting recognition because they are in the public eye so much…. but it’s still important to us that it’s the right kind of person.
So no Katie Price then…

A: Would you ever collaborate with a high street retailer?
F&J: Yes, we would like to work with Topshop!
Erm… lovely people at Topshop, you reading this? Get on it, stat!

A: F&J has quite a unisex following. Why not just make a menswear line?
F&J: Because we’re girls and we like making clothes that we can wear, I think we sub-consciously design for ourselves more than anyone else, and it just so happens we like wearing boys clothes too.

A: In 5 years time, where will I find Fanny & Jessy?
Hopefully in respected department stores across the world.

A: One last one: Snog, marry, avoid, The Ginger Edition: Vivienne Westwood, Sarah Ferguson, Mick Hucknall
F&J: Snog, Vivienne, marry, Fergie…royalty baby, avoid: Mick..eugh.
