Time sure flies when you’re having a blast! I realised Alex Loves is turning 6 months this week (Saturday) so I’ve decided to say thank you for all your support with my first ever giveaway.
I’m super excited to announce that my first giveaway will be a print of one of the amazing illustrations my friend Jamie Ball of Little Kingdoms made for one my latest blogposts. The reactions to his work were so great so it seemed like the perfect prize (I’m a little jealous, to be honest!).
Because his first venture in the fashion world was so successful, Jamie has kindly offered one of his prints as a prize. To top it off, he’s slashed the prices of all the Alex Loves pieces in his online shop with 20% for the next 2 weeks.
To win, all you have to do is answer the following question:

With the 6 month birthday of the blog coming up later this week (and the giveaway being announced TONIGHT), it was great to get an e-mail yesterday telling me I was going to be included in StyleList UK‘s weekly lineup of Best Blogs. I’m super excited that they focused on the post with the illustrations, as that is fast becoming one of my favourites so far! The lovely people at StyleList asked for my picture, but I’m notoriously camera-shy, so I thought the illustration Jamie Ball did ‘of me’ (I have long blonde hair, but you know… sort of) would be a great alternative. And to be featured next to Jak and Jil? Erm… yes…
So thank you very much StyleList, you’ve made this great week even better! Read the whole post here.
Look out for the giveaway announcement tonight!!!

Last night the Louis Vuitton Maison finally opened on Bond Street after many, many moons. Yes, there were many celebs and the store is beyond beautiful and Donna Summer played at the after-party, but you’ll probably have read this somewhere else by now, so let’s not repeat ourselves here.
What I found most interesting about the event were the clothes worn by the celebs. Not in a “who wore it best” kinda way (Gemma Arterton, in case you were wondering), but the way people were wearing the new A/W10 collection.
Let me explain myself a little better. See, the Louis Vuitton A/W10 collection is basically all about full, calf-length skirts, ultra-feminine with an almost vintage feel. When I first saw it on the catwalk, I thought this would only appeal to a certain woman, not the younger It-girls LV has been aiming for in the past few years.
As it turns out, I was completely wrong. Every younger girl (or their stylist) appeared to have chosen one of those dresses, and somehow looked damn sexy in them. The ‘older’ generation, however, all chose for more obvious dresses with a certain sex-appeal, (legs, boobs, both), as if they’re scared that this is the only way that they could still convey any kind of sexuality, almost desperat Quite frankly, the girls outclassed the women here every time.
I really applaud the girls for all making a statement like this, because last night proved that having your bum or boobs out doesn’t necessarily make you any sexier at all. Here’s an A/W10 trend I can subscribe to!

Gemma Arterton, 24 and Gwyneth Paltrow, 37

Kirsten Dunst, 28 and Thandie Newton, 37

Alexa Chung, 26, and Elle Macpherson, 47
Thank god there’s always Alice Dellal (22) to prove any kind of theory wrong:
