Proenza Schouler DIY

Proenza Schouler‘s SS10 collection had to be one of my favourite collections for summer, as it was so effortlessly cool and surfer-chic. It wasn’t just the bags that were to die for (see my previous post here), but the boys also single-handedly took tie dye out of hippiedom and made it fashionable again.
Tie-dyeing had been a favourite DIY project throughout the Sixties and Seventies, but now it’s trendy, it looks like everyone is trying their hand at it again.

This week, the Proenza boys were guests on American chat show favourite Martha Stewart, who taught them a lesson in how to make their own tie-dye prints (which they usually have made in India). In typical Martha Stewart fashion, the crafts goddess kicked the boys’ asses at their own game, but it looks a lot easier than I thought. I may not be able to colour within the lines, but I think even I could manage this one… When I do I’ll post the results on here.

Now it seems that Proenza DIY-ing is in the air. Just minutes ago, the ladies from Who What Wear posted a picture on their Twitter account (@whowhatwear) of a fabulous Proenza Schouler cake made by their intern (@amanda_luvaj) and her sister (@kitchykitchen). A little research – I’m clever like that – led me to said sister’s blog The Kitchy Kitchen where I found detailed pictures of the most amazing, fashionable cake I’ve ever seen. The doll comes complete with the blue dip-dyed hair. Eating it would be a crime. Massive cake envy. For all pictures please check out the post here! The whole blog is a foodie’s delight.
