Ashish for Topshop, part 4

Recently it feels like all I do is write about Topshop, but credit where credit is due – their SS10 collaborations with the NewGen designers is really top notch once again. It makes me happy to see such a global brand support upcoming talent, not just once, but again and again, giving them a chance to firmly put their stamp on the fashion map.

A great example of this is Ashish. The Indian designer has been showing at London Fashion Week for a few years, always to great acclaim, but it was his capsule collections for Topshop that really put his name out there. His Leopard and Zebra wedges were last season’s absolute must have during the fashion weeks, and so for SS10 he’s back for more.

His latest Topshop droppings consists of edgy sportswear, à la Alexander Wang. The black studded tracksuit has 3cm pins all around the edge and has great front-row-seat-bagging-potential, perhaps even better with this (who’s going to want to sit next to you wearing that combo, right?).
I’m a particular fan of the cropped grey tracksuit, which looks both so comfy and 80’s dancer outfit, like straight out of Fame if you add some tube socks and a sweatband. The collection drops in stores on February 3rd.
